Technical Details: Ski Mountaineering - Pale di San Martino Crossing

The Pale di San Martino Traverse is one of the most spectacular ski mountaineering routes in the Dolomites—an exhilarating journey that combines high-altitude terrain, breathtaking views, and an exciting descent.

With 500 meters of elevation gain and a duration of approximately 4 to 6 hours, this traverse is suitable for experienced ski mountaineers (BSA) who are comfortable skiing on untracked snow.

Itinerary

The adventure begins with a lift-assisted ascent, quickly reaching the Pale di San Martino plateau—a surreal, lunar-like environment surrounded by imposing Dolomite peaks. The climb toward Cima Fradusta follows gentle slopes, leading to the highest point of the tour.

From here, the most thrilling section begins: the long descent into Val Canali. This fluid and spectacular route winds through wide-open spaces and more technical sections, offering an incredibly varied skiing experience.

The itinerary ends at Cant del Gal, where a private transfer will take the group back to San Martino di Castrozza.
