Easy Vajo Climb - Little Dolomites

Easy Vajo Climb - Little Dolomites

Discover the Vaji of the Little Dolomites: Winter Mountaineering for Everyone

In the Piccole Dolomiti, the term vajo indicates those narrow gullies that wind between the steep rock faces. During the winter, these paths fill with snow and ice, transforming into real mountaineering routes, ideal for those who want to approach winter mountaineering with the use of rope, ice axe and crampons .

The proposed itinerary includes the ascent of an easy difficulty vajo , such as the Vajo dei Colori, the Vajo dell'Acqua or the Vajo del Cengio , perfect for learning to move on snow and ice safely.

This experience is also suitable for beginners who want to learn the correct use of the ice axe, crampons and rope to tackle the winter mountains.

The choice of the itinerary will be made one or two days before the excursion , based on snow and weather conditions, to ensure safety and the best possible experience.

Generally it is not necessary to have a four-wheel drive car, however since it is a strictly winter activity it is advisable to have winter tires and snow chains on board since you may have to face climbs and descents on snow-covered roads.

I don't have any equipment, is it possible to rent it?

Yes, it is possible to rent it, you just need to communicate this during the registration phase.

Do I have to be very fit to climb a vajo?

You need to be in good shape, as climbing a vajo is a rather strenuous activity. Ascending the vajo with crampons on and then descending takes several hours. If you're a good hiker who isn’t afraid of long treks, you shouldn't have any problems.

Yes, just choose an easy or medium one from the ones offered.

Do I need to know how to double rope and other rope maneuvers?

How do you behave in case of bad weather?

If the mountain guide deems that the conditions are adverse, he can cancel or postpone the excursion. In case of cancellation by the mountain guide, any deposit will be fully refunded or, in agreement with the client, retained for a possible other date.
