Requirements:

  • Don't suffer from vertigo
  • Habituation to cold, even intense cold
  • Good physical shape


Necessary material:

  • Warm and waterproof mountain boots
  • Spacious backpack (30 litres)
  • Down filled comforter
  • Shoeller or Polartec pants
  • Technical underwear
  • Goretex shell
  • Two pairs of gloves, one light and one heavy
  • Cap
  • Sunscreen, cocoa butter
  • Sunglasses

An evening excursion immersed in the tranquility of the mountains, perfect for those who want to experience the snow under the stars. With an elevation gain of 250 meters, the route is easy, but caution is needed in the darkness, which is why it's recommended to rely on a Certified Mountain Guide. Arriving at Passo Duran offers a magical atmosphere, with peaks illuminated by the moon. After the snowshoeing, enjoy a traditional mountain dinner at Rifugio Passo Duran, savoring the authentic flavors of the mountains before returning home.

Duration: 2-3 hours, for a unique experience combining nature and tradition.

Locations and Logistics Details

The meeting point will be agreed upon at the time of booking to optimize travel and facilitate shared transportation among participants.

If necessary, strategic alternatives can be arranged to make transfers more convenient and efficient.

The exact meeting time will be communicated a few days before the excursion, based on weather and logistical conditions, ensuring the best possible organization.

    The itinerary takes place on forest roads, dirt roads or easy mule tracks that are always well marked. The differences in altitude are limited to 300-400 meters and the length of the itinerary is within three hours. These are somewhat long walks that still require accustomed walking in the mountains.

  • Average

    The itinerary definitely exceeds three hours, it is more complex, it takes place on a path with some challenging climbs or descents but can be overcome without the support of mountaineering equipment. The terrain can be uneven. The maximum difference in altitude remains within 600 meters

  • Medium/difficult

    The itinerary definitely exceeds five hours, it is complex due to the difference in altitude that can even exceed 700/800 meters in altitude or due to the length of the walk.
    It takes place on a path with some steep climbs or descents but can be overcome without the support of mountaineering equipment. The terrain can be uneven or lack signs.

Requests?

How do you behave in case of bad weather?

If the mountain guide deems that the conditions are adverse, he can cancel or postpone the excursion. In case of cancellation by the mountain guide, any deposit will be fully refunded or, in agreement with the client, retained for a possible other date.

I've never been snowshoeing, can I participate?

If you are in good physical shape and have a minimum habit of walking in the mountains or doing sports in general you can participate.
Those with less experience can contact me so we can evaluate together whether the planned excursion is within their reach or not.

Is there a timetable to follow?

The goal of the excursion is to enjoy the day, also taking frequent breaks. Generally the excursions are organized in such a way that you do not have to keep a sustained pace, however it is more than recommended to be in good physical shape.

I don't have any equipment, is it possible to rent it?

Yes, it is possible to rent it, you just need to communicate this during the registration phase.

Do you need a 4x4 to get to the meeting point?

Generally it is not necessary to have a four-wheel drive car, however since it is a strictly winter activity it is advisable to have winter tires and snow chains on board since you may have to face climbs and descents on snow-covered roads.

Is dinner at the refuge included in the cost?

Yes, dinner is included in the cost.

Is snowshoe rental free?

Yes, rental is free.
